Where The Rain Comes In

Where The Rain Comes In

A Poem by Carl

She lives in a house
Where the rain comes in
Soaks her clothes
And drenches her skin
And she doesn't know
Where to begin
Living in a house
Where the rain comes in

She has a garden
That is overgrown
Too much work
For one person alone
Shrubs and weeds
Like she's never known
Living with a garden
That is overgrown

She has a cat
That keeps running away
When he'll be back
No-one can say
But it's in a cat's nature
Too often stray
Living with a cat
That keeps running away

She has a vein
That is black and blue
A visible reminder
Of what she use to do
Heroin Weed
And Cocaine too
Living with a vein
That is black and blue

She has a heart
That's been torn in two
Torn by a man
That she thought she knew
She'll out it back together
With paper and glue
Living with heart
That's been torn in two

She has to survive
Another day
So she goes to the church
Where she starts to pray
And asks God in his grace
To meet her halfway
Living to survive
Another day

I know girl
Who looks a lot like you
Bruise on her face
And a hole in her shoe
And every days a battle
But she'll come through
Yes I know a girl
who looks a lot like you
