A Cord of Three

A touch of strength,

Faith to believe.

A tie that binds,

Hope that finds.

 

A single heart calling on the Lord

Opens up doors,

But when more come together,

A cord of three reaches the Creator.

 

The stronger the thread,

The more it can be led.

A string by itself needs

Others to succeed.

 

Reaching for something,

To rest on faith’s wings…

The strength is in

A cord of three, as hope deepens.

 

There’s power and strength

In breadth and length…

The Lord in glory

Has fully redeemed.

 

God in His might,

Had great delight

When He sent His Word so the world could hear it,

A cord of three; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

This really sounds in my head like a thanksgiving hymn (after communion maybe) Melinda. I was in a church choir as a boy and the words were all so eloquent and majestically arranged - they really fascinated me. This is strong and contrite lyrical writing.
