Just Another Day

Just Another Day

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The shining of the sun

Tells of a new day that has begun.

A new breath in the timeless shade

Of just another day.

A peace in the inner soul

Leads me to a higher goal.

A calm instills,

Whispering its will.

Closed curtains open,

Revealing my dreams have only deepened.

A lofty wind blows my way,

But I’m soon reminded it’s just another day.

The Lilies spring to life,

And so too do the birds arrive.

The sun abundantly shines

With arms of warmth during summertime

Living the best I know,

While in this world I cope.

Here I am filling this lonely page…

Content in just another day.

Your words always perspire inspiration

So much reflection and appreciation of life here. It seems the muse is not taking anything for granted like everyone does. Everything seems noted and savored. I also noticed that you used a free verse format in this piece. It is also very rich with words of gratitude from someone whose heart has been hoping for a better place, a better day and a better tomorrow. The way you write and express your piece reminds me of Joni Eareckson Tada.

Thank you so much for your review. I like Joni.
Melinda: It is just another day, but thank God! You have written a beautiful poem, so calm and suttle, it made me think of the dawn that soon will be approaching, and I will remember this gorgeous writing and although it's suppose to be cloudy, I will too think of a hopefull tomorrow with the sun shining through. I love your poem. You are so talented!! Just gorgeous and I thank you. Dale

Melinda, I'm happy you ended the piece on a high note, because all to often we take for granted all of the "just another days," in our lives. I'm to the point in my life now that I don't care if nothing interesting happens all day, I'm just happy to still be here, along with my lifetime love (my wife) and our kids and grandkids. Just happy...the way this poem made me feel, and I thank you for that. take care...dan

"Living the best you know" I think you and all of us cannot do much more than that. That line was well said. Another heart telling piece Melinda. Your poems are beautiful arranged words with meaning.
