Wings of an Eagle

Wings of an Eagle

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Wings of an Eagle

Not meant to be grounded

Or forever bounded,

Its wings soar through the open sky,

Flying far and wide.

Life can get you down

When no hope is found.

You find yourself longing for

Wings of an eagle once more.

To sail the sky blue

And to find your truth.

Your soul longs to be at peace,

Flying over a crystal sea.

In a quiet hush,

You feel the gentle rush.

Looking deep within,

Wings of an eagle ascend.

Something inside tells you to look up

And you feel the tug--

The tug of the Holy Spirit beneath your wings,

Oh, the clarification it brings!

Suddenly, you know where you belong,

And you find your strength comes from the One who sits on the throne.

His grace and truth… ever regal--

Wings of an eagle.
