A Lobster-Like Faith

A Lobster-Like Faith

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

A Lobster-Like Faith

Cradled in its shell,

It’s full of self.

It feels protected in its safety,

In the midst of the sea.

Following the current,

To its destination it’s sent.

It models the way,

A lobster-like faith.

Growing out of its shell,

Time always tells.

Breaking forth into a new horizon--

Its own Zion.

This I seek,

As I take a leap,

To have and partake

A lobster-like faith.

It’s time to come out of my shell

And give of myself.

Opening new doors--

It’s time to explore.

With a humbled heart,

I’ll let God do His part.

This I pray,

A lobster-like faith.

I've read most of your work Melinda. I feel I'm a decent judge of potential talent. However I do feel your metaphors are to direct. This is problematic in the sense it leaves the reader void of emotion. While it is a talent I think, to use them in poetry. I also believe the talent to hiding what you're using in your piece as metaphors is completely in your word choices.Leave more to the readers thoughts so nothing falls flat. I wouldn't have reviewed your work if I didn't think you had talent. Dig deeper! You have IT! Best wishes Melinda!

Thanks for your help. I'll take it into consideration.
I enjoyed your way you used the lobster.
"With a humbled heart,
I’ll let God do His part.
This I pray,
A lobster-like faith. "
The above lines. Easy to grasp and understand dear Melinda. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.
