Written for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ...Amen.

“The Lord Is My Shepherd”

The Lord is my shepherd, I walk in His way

And the light of His love brightens my day.

He’s pulled me from darkness and shown me His light

He’s forgiven my sins and given me life.

He protects me and guides me in all that I do

I know in my heart His love is true.

As it is written: He knows His own

I’m blessed in life by the love He’s shown.

If I should walk through the valley of death

I will worship and praise Him with all my breath.

All of my days will I follow the Lord

Praising him always and keeping His Word.

As I look up to heaven above

My heart is filled with joy and love.

 

And as I lay me down to sleep

I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

If I should die before I wake

His love for me no man can take.

Oh...this is just so simple and endearing in it's devotion. I recite the 23rd Psalm sometimes when I pray and this gorgeous poem has added a new charm to the wonderful Psalm.

One of the first poems ...a prayer to the Christ that I have encountered at WC.
And it was a welcome view.
Has it been inspired by Songs of David...but its uniquely apart from any other work i have read though.
Just reminded me of a a tune i had copied of Richard Marx and set it to a poem of mine ...as a demonstration of lyric substitution in class.
