Know who you are...

Know who you are...

A Poem by Polly Lewis
"

An expression of my soul...

"

Know who you are…

Shy and silent, yet bold and alive,
My mind is open yet eyelids are closed,
In dreams I dance with the spirit inside,
And find the key to unlocking my pride,

Imagination releases the chains,
Blasting the walls as my heart is revealed,
The thoughts and feelings I carry within,
Now banish my fear and explore once again,

Confined for so long I struggle to see,
The child inside will not set me free,
And plagued by doubt and a need to provide,
I do what I must while I fight to survive,

But when I return and the working is done,
I go to a place where life truly began,
And stretching my fingers I lower the chair,
Shoulders relaxed as I let down my hair,

Cocooned in the study I stare at the screen,
Anxious, yet ready I picture the scene,
My head fills with stories I’m longing to write,
At last I find peace as my fingers ignite,

Sword wielding hero’s move in for the kill,
Shrouded in magic I’m yet to reveal,
Shadows of darkness and angels of light,
Struggle for balance long into the night,

Page after page I hold onto the flow,
Creating a story that longs to unfold,
Herein lies my heart, and my mind and my soul,
With passion and love it continues to grow,

I cling to my dream though my journey is far,
And strong and defiant reach out for the stars,
For this is the person I’m longing to be,
At last I find hope in this vision of me.

Wow..
For just starting, you are beyond good. I can literally feel the core of your soul in this piece. Writing is both a sword and a shield to you. I encourage you to keep that scared little girl, and that bold spirited woman..combined they are who you are, and why you can create.
The shyness, the pain, the urge to just run away, and the warrior in you, to sit and pound out your soul with relentless purpose. These are all you. Without one the other would not exist. Brilliant! Rain

This is amazing.

You are very talented in your writing. I was completely absorbed by this and, for a second, I forgot that I was sitting here reading this and not in one of your stories. I honestly saw myself in your position with your feelings. I think that is the best thing a writer can do to it's audiance.

I see the makings of a passionate long time writer. Your rhythm, your word mastery, your rhyming all working well. We are all the products of where we've been and the accumulated experiences we can claim as our own. My son is very much into the fantasy, sword wielding, role playing genre and has many online friends to share with. I will watch with eager anticipation for what direction you take us.

Thanks for sharing and I hope we've all encouraged you to be bold. Trust yourself.

This is really beautiful! I love this last stanza>>>

I cling to my dream though my journey is far,
And strong and defiant reach out for the stars,
For this is the person I'm longing to be,
And I now find hope in this vision of me.

Take care~~~

Nicely put. Hang onto inspiration for as long as it flows. An enjoyable read.
