Come Back Soon

Come Back Soon

A Poem by Jennifer Pennington

Where have you gone to?
I find myself asking you this question
in many ways, in many forms
Who have you become?
I cannot seem to recognize you
anymore
Some moments with you
Are like deja vu
Memories come to me as clear
as day
As perfect as can be

I see myself standing on your feet
as a child
while you danced around the kitchen with me
I see myself staying up late
sharing cookies and soda with you
while we watched the sci fi channel
I see how happy you were
on all the holidays
And out of all the visions i've come to see
Nothing compares to just how much
I miss seeing you

Your feet are crippling you now
You can barely walk anymore
You still can't sleep
but thats because your absorbed in video games
and tuning out the world
You don't smile anymore
and when you do, its just not the same
And the holidays just aren't as enjoyable
without you there

Where have you gone to?
I sure as hell would like to know
