He Called Me Luverly

He Called Me Luverly

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver
"

Some days they are with you and memories creep in...

"

Grief is a tender invasion at times
like a flower that bides its time
emotions ebb and flow
from the spring of youth
to the autumn of a painful fall
I read your messages this morning
poetry that always paused me
from such gentle epiphanies
you purged through the pain
you always called me luverly
I still see your smiles
kindness you bestowed to many
compassion and empathy
that will ripple through times to come
grief is both tender and heavy
an invasion that leaves pangs
not for the freedom you now have
more for the simple fact
I wish to say
hello dear heart
to lose is to know silence
in its most truest form
tis but a visceral invasion
on a rainy, chilled dawn
you always called me luverly
I miss your softness
as clouds form
this nostalgic morn

Poetry that always paused me....is that not an apt way of describing words which stop our traffic?

Beautifully written!

Poppy, this poem moved me to tears for my own reasons. Such a heartfelt and deeply sweet memorial to your friend, dear poet. Beautiful!

You will always be called that even in the echoes of passing. Let it all give you comfort and joy in the beautiful memories...Excellent...:)...................

Very touching & Beautiful
Your ending is a lasting touch here because it is so on the mark with the feelings inside this one.
Wonderful insight and I admire how tied in the nickname or pet name.

There are times, moments, special people, that are never forgotten; they are inside us forever; and as your first line so poignantly says, grief is a tender invasion, but it is an emotion that needs to be embraced.

I read 'stepping thru the heart portal,' a few moments after reading this, it added immensely to my understanding of this lovely and tender poem.

Beccy.

He was a beautiful soul. I had a brief interaction with him however I would never be able to forget it. Probably that is how a wonderful soul touches you and mark a permanent tattoo on your heart. From what I could feel he was someone who believed in humanity in its true essence.

The pain of loss and the longing of wanting that special someone to be back with you is so strong in every line of this one. The imagery is vivid. So very emotive. Lydi**

I liked the imagery, it's no-nonsense romance, with so much feeling and passion.
