Which M

Which M

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver

Muted

mutation

or mutiny

which is it

embedded deeply?

The birds seem happy

for an extra half an hour

of daylight today

Small mercies cast out

the ever cloaked grey

with their carefree chirps

There is something innocent

about their clever chorus

soft as snow on pain

Sly January

with your false hopes

of a soft Spring

won't you divulge

when my world

became so morbidly silent

that it white washed all sound

except the song of birds

Muted

mutation

or mutiny

which is it

embedded deeply

in winter's disdain?

Mood reflection on the season of coldness.
The month of dreary skies and snowflakes floating in icy air.
Birds find a ray of hope.

I enjoyed this very much, truly shows the feelings you go through at a time like this, whilst also showing that it could be more than just the season you're talking about here. An underlying current of suffering. Well done!

ooh, melancholy, and dark moody poetry. soft as snow on pain. Stellar line, Poppy

an understatement of sombreness, all the more powerful for it.

The opening and finishing stanza's are very potent indeed which added a mystery somewhat unknown maybe waiting for Winter's final curtain to fall while the bird's stir in their slumber! A lovely write!

Winter will be over soon. Light will tear the clouds and embrace every one longing for it. The beauty of your poems darling is not just withing words but the spaces in between them.
