For Meera

For Meera

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver

Without him
she could not live
her worship
total and complete

No royal ties
did she want or need
this Bhakti Saint
calls to me

Devotional was she
a woman with fire
in a Poet's heart
a lover with reverence
entangled in each sigh

No ornaments or jewels
did she need
her adoration was a song
to the elements
this Bhakti Saint
calls to me

Humble and dedicated
she mingled with all castes
her message of strength and freedom
love and salvation
inspires and lures my soul
to a mystical, forgotten land

Without him
she could not live
no jewels or ornaments
nor royal ties
did she need

Only to love
with fierce conviction
could set her free
in a lot of ways
she reminds myself
of me

You have a way of proving how the past rules the heart, how the heart learns how it is to love, truly love. To be touched, to be reminded, to be whispered by truth is more than belief, magic - call it what you will, dear you. I so love this slow simmering how it is.

'.. love and salvation -- - inspires and lures my soul -- -- to a mystical, forgotten land -- -- Without him -- -- she could not live -- -- '

Thank you...
Everything you've created here is lifting and triumphant. The beauty and wonders of love, pure and simple. This exalts the soul through your words, the music, and the sublime, sacred image of her. And your final thoughts made me smile deeply, for I know that you have always become life and love for all you touch.
