Gaia

Gaia

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver
"

May the earth heal in love and light ~ Blessed Earth Day ~

"

Long ago
I surrendered to you
as my only Mother
with full knowledge
humanity had violated
your beauty in countless ways
you accepted my prayer
with effortless grace
now, to feel your veins
flow with less ease
see your limbs
severed coldly
feel your heart
beat erratically
suffocates me
your lungs
no longer breathe
deeply
your tears
no longer flow
freely
forgive the blinded
for they do know
they have wronged
myself included
with hands earthed
on your gentle body
my soul seeks forgiveness
for the merciless harm
that has tainted your flesh
scarred your charms
long ago
I surrendered
coiled safely
in your branched arms
now, to know you suffer so
would disturb the calmest crow

In nature we find all forms of soul cleansing
and nothing does that ...... not like this beautiful earth

If only all humanity understood that
there would be no damage
no destruction

Earth gives us all
and we give nothing in return
or never enough .... the least be appreciation !!!

i enjoyed this piece

Thank you Rebecca :)
A brilliant bit of prose. This is a spirituality I can understand. Nature nurtures us and we should nurture nature.

I am in agreement...thanks love :)
Poem full of tenderness and love and showing us how to love one and other in the simplest ways as God has shown mankind in the Good Book ways.

Cascara, thank you :)
I wanted to read this poem of yours becuz I read another recent one of yours using the word "Gaia" & I had to see what else you had to say about this. I had to google Gaia, by the way. Excellent word choice. I really do relate to everything you're saying here about the way we've squandered the planet's resources. I love your opening statement, since I also feel the earth is truly my mother on a deep level. You've described the plundering in nicely poetic terms, along with a sincerely-felt apology. I just don't feel the last line, nowhere near as powerful as the rest of your statement.

Thank you barleygirl, I always appreciate you reading and sharing your thoughts :)
like any other Cradle, Our Cradle of Life does not seem to get some recognition..
it's our home, where we feed, where we drink, where we dream..where we sing...yet just when we think that we have outgrown it, we throw it away..like any other cradle..

Powerful to say the least..

Thank you Cascara...
The Earth is our real mother and we must first show our gratitude by destroying it no more.

I stand with you...thank you love ♥
This is a lovely lamentation. We are here to steward this place. To be caretakers. Not to destroy. In destroying - we kill ourselves.
