Season's Change In A Time Of Silent Prayers

Season's Change In A Time Of Silent Prayers

A Poem by Vicki Ruth

Already the leaves
are in gentle decay
but the elephants
on the glass bottle
are eternal

I like the "gentle decay"- time passing, seasons changing, but gently. The elephants caught me off guard, as I have never seen elephants on a bottle- but the feeling of that object of constancy is a reassurance, I think, that some things beautiful and wise are not subject to decay and death. Might not be what you intended . . . But that's what it brought up for me. Thank you Poppy, for the unlikely pairing that made me stop and take notice.

Seasons come and go, each bringing its own kind of magic; but memories, as they should be, are forever.

Such a gentle poem.

So divinely beautiful. In life we flow in these seasons, and yet, deeper down there are everlasting worlds. May what seems death and dying only refresh and revive you in spring's enchanted renewal. xo

Things we create last longer than some of Mother Nature's creations....so it shall ever be. After all, it is the Circle of Life. A bit mysterious....your words made me think. lydi**

I see sad reality in here - artificial, manmade substances have longer lifelines than natural ones; I'm glad this piece provoked such deep thoughts within me.

I liked the way this is so enigmatic, but I also wonder if the poem would be better if you elaborated on what the "elephants" are--maybe I'm just missing it, but it seems a little too ambiguous to form a conclusion about the poem. Just my thoughts!
