A Poem by Vicki Kent

To walk with strength
can be burdensome
though we be bruised
or even ridiculed
karma has its own agenda
it is not for us to punish
judgement is not ours to claim
for who knows who is to blame
do unto others
as you would have done
unto yourself
so the saying goes
who are we to inflict pain on another
because we hurt or feel sorrow
the cycles are often unseen
the reasons unheard
the flower still forgives
releases gentle fragrance
even when crushed underfoot
who are we to cast assumption
each has their own, unique path
transference is never an answer
enlightenment is no easy task

Few will find enlightenment. Most of us are blind and cannot see. Thank you dear friend for sharing the excellent poetry.

This is deep poppy...this is full of wisdom. Never thought of an analogy of the flower, it still gives its fragrances even if crashed.

Very relevant poem. How tempting it always is to throw the first stone.

The flower still forgives...powerful image.

I totally agree with your well-stated message. The use of "we" helps take this out of the "preachy" realm, to my way of thinking. I'm against revenge (or even vengeful thoughts) becuz I try to trust that God will take care of others' actions which are not to His liking (this isn't about my own liking). You've peeled back several different layers of the revenge myth for us to see & ponder & hopefully heed.

a really sound philosophical write....because what goes around comes around...and there is definitely karma.

some ask me about putting poems out there on line..."what if someone steals your work?"
"don't you worry about that?"

my response is always the same...if that person would want to do that and pass the writing off as his or her own...more power to them...but i'd rather be able to sleep soundly at night knowing what i put out there is mine...and karma will do its thing...what goes around comes around.
damn, i talk too much.

good poem.

Transference is never an answer. That is a very powerful line, Poppy. Very real and spiritually insightful poem. That line can easily be the title of a book. Don't let that go to waste.

Always a pleasure and learning experience when reading you.
