The Forest Seems To Cradle Him

The Forest Seems To Cradle Him

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver

On Wednesday
March 17th
2004
engineers added final touches
to the tallest tower in Taiwan
so the painting informs
so why is the man before me
so detached and melancholy
art has always perplexed me
I want to crawl inside the picture
examine the artist's mind
move between the trees
ask the man in semi-darkness
why his aura seems so lifeless
why so depressed
after such an achievement
I want to say to him
the trees would listen
if he spoke to them
seems he has lost faith
misplaced it among rulers
proportions and pens
there is something
so desperate about him
forever framed
for times to come
I wish I could crawl inside
you seem as lost as I

' I want to say to him .. .. the trees would listen .. .. if he spoke to them.. '

the only truth is THE TRUTH.. perhaps?

Only you can see the whole picture at magic times, Poppy. You notice minutiae and convert them to treasure. Here you see the art and its lifeless might be... then, the would be man who seems oblivious.. .. then.. then... you want to learn what you already think is a 'just maybe.. ' Beautiful thoughts, beautiful poetry.. as ever, always.

The poem is amazing. I wish you had some photos. I like the thoughts and the wants in the words. Art should make us think and ponder. I believe Painters are a bit mad. They see too much. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome dear friend.
I think this tugs at the heart of any artist, or any human that feels creativity runs through his or her blood. As an actor and poet, I can relate to this man. The rush is in the creative process. The feeling thereafter, once complete can sometimes feel equivalent to a regretful one-night stand. Lol... it's the best analogy I can think of!

Awesome, as always.

lol Indeed Cyntax...many thanks :)
I understand this to be a pladoyer for the enviroment, packed inside the reality of one reponsible for this building, or a painting of it. Good write, that throwns out loads of thought lines

Thank you sweetheart, I always appreciate you sharing your thoughts :)
I know why the artist feels "down" after his great achievement . . . we artists are often addicted to that "high" of accomplishment & then surprised when we are wracked afterwards with the buried feelings that became exposed like tender nerves during the process of creation. You've done a great job of showing us this recognizable creative scenario & leaving it to the reader to guess the reasons why. I especially love the specific example you've used which makes your poem unique & original.

Another top music hit Poppy first off, the write is one to ponder if only we could get into the picture or the minds of others. Dali comes to mind for me lol. A lovely written piece Poppy.:)
