Back When the Willow Was Alive

Back When the Willow Was Alive

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver
"

RIP to someone many adored...

"

There was a time
I covered my walls
with posters of you

You were
my first crush
when I was nine

I remember
my cat died
that year too

Strange
how memories
shape our sense of loss

Piece by piece
my childhood has faded
mortality is real

Sighs mingle
with the memory
of youth

This really could be filmed as a talking head. I find it pastel and gentle if sad.
In the loss of such souls there is always something gently heartbreaking. The acceptance is there but the love engendered by their passing is also perhaps to be celebrated. Because that is how they lived. They gave us joy both our heroes and our loved animals.

very bittersweet message: the loss of innocence should be grieved. growing up is not for the faint of heart... well done

I think its wonderful that you were touched so deeply to write something so beautiful and poignant about him. I was stunned to hear of his passing. It seems 2016 has added on tremendously to that "rock n roll" heaven! Bless you, Poppy! x
