Twelve Days Of Something

Twelve Days Of Something

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver

Perhaps

it is the cold

that makes us

recoil

winter is relentless

so much so

even the robin

has flown away

starlings now take his place

none of it makes sense

if it did

we wouldn't be here

praying for light

seeking some warmth

doubting our steps

none of it makes sense

perhaps it is the cold

that makes us

weak and vulnerable

curled in the arms

of darkness

First I must commend your musical selection, with a big warm RIP for this great artist! This poem of yours seems more blunt & straightforward than yours usually are, but fitting for a message which feels like it's hitting us over the head in more ways than just the bitter weather & long nights! *sigh!* I love the title, very imaginative & thought-provoking! Hope your new year starts out well! (((HUGS)))

Great metaphor, we sometimes roam aimlessly in darker seasons. Enduring and then re-emerging (one hopes) I love the title as well. From what I've learned your writing has a distinct hum and energy. Fine writing. R xo

You're welcome.
Your words have a presence, have a breath, and they whisper out into the winter night, hushed and still, hoping to take root somehow. Yes, how the season can pull us into those haunted caverns. But even in those shadows you make beauty rise. xo

Somehow we do, stronger than thought ey? :) Thanks love...
the last five lines are unique and introspective - it;s the first time i've seen coldness related to vulnerability instead of a lack of emotions

Winter is quiet time. Time to find good company. Drink coffee/tea and talk/write. Can't go outside. We must find some indoor sports. Thank you dear friend for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome my friend.
I've come to understand that with winter comes the easy fall into depression or sadness. I got the same vibe from this. Nice work.

You always feel well, thank you sweetheart ♥
The darkness of winter is bearable but the winter of darkness is difficult to cope with. The world seems to be in a place of darkness where the other the side of the road doesn't seem to have enough light to take us through... I don't hear the robin's song anymore, he might have been seeking a place of warmth where life is still under the care of light... So thought provoking Poppy...

Sincerely
Dhiman
