The Honoured Unknown

The Honoured Unknown

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver

"Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect.” ― J.K. Rowling

I read this evening

it is rare to die in pain

this was shortly after I saw a photo

of a tombstone which simply stated

unknown skeleton

I don't know about you

but this image haunts me

how sad to be unknown

even in death

Scary monotony of life... Even more deplorable, though... Is the anonymity in death...

As always, you capture the most unique instances in life & distill it down to the most essential aspect. Very thought-provoking (no pain in death?) & melancholy (dying unknown) *sigh!* Fondly, Margie

I quite like the idea of being unknown.
Gets people working on my behalf.

We have places for the unknown soldiers in the USA. Make me feel sad. Born, lived, fought and forgotten. A amazing poem dear Poppy.
