The Honoured Unknown

The Honoured Unknown

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver

"Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect.” ― J.K. Rowling

I read this evening

it is rare to die in pain

this was shortly after I saw a photo

of a tombstone which simply stated

unknown skeleton

I don't know about you

but this image haunts me

how sad to be unknown

even in death

Unknown, with no story told, Byron would have been in hell, well done, great thoughts, and as always we love you darling.

My worst fears have been imagined reading this.this is a lonely place of. dying.unknown and alone.I take no pleasure in reading this but I'm glad you wrote it

What does the numbers mean? Could you please help me with that?

The numbers are the date of death Ashwin :)
Scary monotony of life... Even more deplorable, though... Is the anonymity in death...

As always, you capture the most unique instances in life & distill it down to the most essential aspect. Very thought-provoking (no pain in death?) & melancholy (dying unknown) *sigh!* Fondly, Margie

I quite like the idea of being unknown.
Gets people working on my behalf.

Your heart is more beautiful than you perceive.
