A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver

Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people - Carl Jung

Since I was born

I started to decay

he sings with no remorse

same as I in sharing that notion

darkness has become me

for now I let winter embrace me

Badb stands close on guard

her ravens ready to defend

for now I hibernate from the world's pain

witchcraft utters from these lips in dark hours

save my sanity from the vultures

frankincense and patchouli

soak into chilled skin

the dead gather unseen

since I was born

I started to decay

he sings

I am simply limboed

in the in-betweens

'I am simply limboed ~ in the in-betweens '

Seems that's the thread birthing along with the silver spoon.. we are destined to defy perfection within the dull dark of Winter come.. life's roundabout perhaps.

Your words always set thoughts rolling, this into the presence of this time, dear Poppy..

Thank you for the amazing poetry. Reading the comments gave me a better understanding of this.

Limbo is an interesting concept, the void where unbaptized children end up in, according to Catholic
theology..like this poem

Nice music and amazing poetry. Limbo is dangerous. Can fall into the deepness of evil or if lucky. Find the light of hope. Thank you dear Poppy for sharing your amazing poetry.

The sense of smell is provided throughout as I read this one,
To avoid the world's sufferings is something I can relate to daily currently.
Nice repetition of thoughts.

In many mind sets we are born to die as life is only but a swift experience that we need to cherish. Love how this flows and it actually provoked some inspiration in me, opened my mind a bit to allow the clutter to be swept out. On a side note I love the scent of frankincense and patchouli.

from the moment we are born, we begin the slow process of dying in a fallen world. waxing philosophically,

"This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell, my blessing season this in thee!" -
Polonius in William Shakespeare's "Hamlet"

Deeply powerful in the lingering darkness. Every tone, every flavor, every scent of the winter season flowing around you, these awaken the world of life and decay. Let your voice rise in the night, dear Poppy.
