Fragility In Vibrancy

Fragility In Vibrancy

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver
"

" There can be no transforming of darkness into light and of apathy into movement without emotion - Carl Jung "

"

One yellow rose

held in cold palms

bright against your pale

I asked for orange

to bestow courage

as you journeyed

through the veil

they sent red

a colour of strength

somehow I wonder

if it was no accident

I wanted orange

to accompany the yellow

even if your hands were lifeless

even though the flowers would be burned

I wanted orange to accompany the yellow

they sent red and now red has its own place

in death

Every colour represents an emotion, and you used that. You used very impressive words and chose strong emotions for your poem and I really appreciate it. I have read poems in which people directly throw emotions of the colours in their poems but this is totally a new way of writing with a different concept. Excellent work.
Keep it up!

Colors --wilting petals...
sorrow can be the pain
something bright to move on from it.

I actually played the song and read the poem simultaneously, and it complemented each other very well.

I love the Jung quote too. Might steal it!

This poem has a somewhat melancholy undertone where the narrator is trying to come to terms with some inconsolable reality but is left with one yellow rose, red and death.

Our minds at times, hold things, a word, a colour, a 'thing; - it becomes a focus. Can be to highlight, can be to just hold as you might a hand.

Your words have always or vrequently, moved me, Poppy but this.. and the pics above, of the video, shivers my heart.. sad. More than.. and you.
