A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver

"Convinced myself, I seek not to convince." Edgar Allan Poe

Darkness of the soul,
an infinite, slow nightfall,
a beast that savours.
Pull out all the wires
she sings and I can relate,
flatline reboot.
Reading Poe, I feel
a resonance eclipse light
within, eternal.
Frost like frozen dust
splinters on concrete, sparkled
moments fragmented.

Like this a lot..Poppy knows that reading is the source of good poetry, and puts this idea excellently across...a poem that should be well looked at !

even in darkness we find hope however elusive and sometimes in the least likely of places. we cling to this or that - whatever gets us through. grand imagery in your words and that Poe. title is kindling for the soul. especially love the last stanza ...

Poe can bring us into the light with his own brand of darkness. His imagination fills and emptiness.

Your words are a light in themselves.

I am a big Poe fan so I can feel your poem lighten up my poetic side.

You present shards of thought that are sharp & jagged. I always love the play of opposites, dark & light, burn & freeze, all done with unexpected word choices. Your writing is always very fresh & unique (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

dear Poppy Ruth... like a thief in the night... a flicker of an electrical fire can blaze through your hearth and home... leaving you thankful that you and yours survived to flee into the morning frost. Fire hoses sprayed water into every crevice as the blaze continued to devour many treasures... and yet the gift of life escaped to live another day. The blackness of the embers reminding us of the fragility of life. A new day emerged with the sunrise and birds with tiny wings singing a new song. The pansies smiled in colors sweet as promises of healing were tucked in our heart.
The darkness as embers continued to blaze cannot destroy the spirit of survival. Poppy, your writing can be meaningful in so many ways, and I thank you for you comforting prose
that has touched my soul. truly, Pat

Enya...such a voice

when i read Poe, too, i feel i understand him in some ways...maybe too much...
when she sings...i am so caught up in the mood of her voice---unsettled, that is the sort of feeling...
i seem to be constantly there...even with the parts of my life that seem in balance.

Words like hammer resonate more in the darkness of night when they have found their companion.

Nice write Poppy and like Poe I love the atmospheric mood of the dark and I suppose always love dark brooding thunder storms and belting rain, just love it. Nice work.
