A cottage by the sea

A cottage by the sea

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

An easy breezy getaway has only what you need

"
When I gaze into your eyes I see the horizon
as ships pass in the night by the light of
the North Star...
The gale winds blow over the jagged rocks
as dreams lay quietly on the beach
where sweethearts found a retreat...

Remembering the woodsy warmth of
a hearth crackling with delight in spite of
love's embers glowing dim with tears...

Imagine the northern lights as moments
of ecstasy relived within the memories
of seaside romantic getaways...

A charismatic view of summertime love
to create an escape of happy everafter
tucked away for a cold winter slumber...

As always, a beautifully imagined piece of writing.

Soothing images to caress and warm the heart through the cold days of winter.

Loved the subtle contrast throughout between cheerful memories and the slight melancholy such rememberance can bring.

Very nicely written, Pat. Well Done.

Lulled to sleep by the flow of the tides and cradled by the memory of love. A epic tale created in a snapshot. Love it.

I was drawn here by the sea, and loved every warming, loving glimpse. There are those who make music come to life around us, within us, and you seem to have one in your life who awakens the most beautiful of worlds.

Your cottage by the sea reminds me that there's something about the air that comes off the ocean. You inhale it a little bit deeper, as it rushes through your senses, seemingly bringing you back to life.

You always bring a sense of contentment, of peace and tranquility to your poetry, Pat. May you forever shine that way!

...thank you so much, Pat!
You wrote this in June and I missed it tut. tut, me

However, no matter when read, this would be a beautiful poem - full of place and heart! You write so tenderly, yet, visually, Patricia. Summertime love personified. xx

Each stanza is a little word painting (for all the senses) of one view from your cottage by the sea. Taken together, these glimpses make the reader want to be there! Love your details & word choices to bring out vivid imagery.
