Autumn sunflowers and sandpipers

Autumn sunflowers and sandpipers

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Hummingbirds are drawn to sips of nectar in the center of a sunflower...

"
As sandpipers on wing leave shadows of smiles
spread among the dunes of warm sand...
Pumpkins are cut to bring the light of smiles
as children return to school with summer memories

Sunflowers bloom in tall eloquence against an
autumn sky of geese flying in formation to
warmer climes where hurricanes have spent their
time with floods and high winds causing pain and strife

Neighbors helping neighbors with gifts of love
pumpkin pies and slow cooked meals on wheels
Apple pies and warm fires with hot cocoa and friends
gathering for a season of grace and thanksgiving...

Yellow roses gathered and placed with autumn leaves
in colors of nutmeg and persimmon fruit on a table
with candles lit to begin the season of forgiveness and
reconciliation among our friends around the world...

                                  Fine

Amen

A wonderfully described poem.....

Your descriptions in this piece really give the reader a deep insight into the colour and sights of the season of forgiveness. One can almost see the scenery and smell the delicious foods that must be in abundance at such a time of the year. Thanksgiving is something we Australians do not celebrate, yet its warming significance is admired from afar.

Another fine write, Pat. Delicious and wondrous on the senses and mind.

Inspiring imagery dear Pat, the colours, hues, pleasing fragrances and tastes of the Autumn season now upon us, as all make ready and gather in for the cold winter months that lie ahead!

A fine and thankful reverie, penned so eloquently with alluring charisma and knowledgeable gratefulness!

I agree dear friend.
Your poem is lovely, cosy with an 'all is well' feeling about it. Wouldn't it be fine if everyone felt that way. There are many in the world with terrible problems.
I hope you find forgiveness and reconciliation in your life as 'yellow roses are gathered and placed with autumn leaves'

You've written the most ideal poem to ruminate over. Pumpkin and Apple Pie by the fire and clear images make this a great poem in my book.
