nothing left

nothing left

A Poem by Tom Friel

i have nothing left to offer
no poignant inspiration will ever flow from me
just an ocean full of words
endless words eternally at rest inside of me
words like waves that crash against my soul
timelessly dying once again before shore
perpetually impelled forever back to sea
left only a shell in the distance is me
mysteriously chaotic submerged once pristine
darkness like a blanket hides the colors that were me
an ocean full of words forevermore untouched
little treasures safely buried near a rotted crutch
