I dont cry

You know I don’t cry

Lest my tears disgrace you

Sadness if visible, is not questioned

Blessings sought for you, not guarded

 

I embellish, I adorn

Wear anklet, bangles too

Hiding, the Truth of ascetic heart

Lest you are told, be an ascetic now

 

I chatter with flowers

Fly hither thither like breeze

Learning truth of my stopped steps

No one appeals to you to stop

 

I light the flame with reverence

Bathe, adorn idols, chant couplets

The desolate darkness I am in

He does not fill in your life

 

But when I come to me

With all my shattered hopes

Forgetting all the pretext

I become all yours only

 

Couplets, all forgotten

Lamps, all drown out

I close the doors to breeze

Break alliance with fragrance

 

Tearing away adornment
I let the ascetic heart live

Hiding face in my palms

You know I cry a lot

Originally written in Hindi, rewrote in English when someone wished to have it in English, justice may be not fully done, but the essence will show, I hope.

Very beautiful. The pictures caught my attention which shows what the poem is all about.
My favourite stanza is :

Gosh, This is beautiful. Like everyone else, my favorite stanza is the last stanza. It truly holds the entire essence in it. Awesome poem. Beautifully written.

जानते हो मैं रोती नहीं
मेरे आंसू तुम्हे रुसवा ना करे कहीं
पूछ ना बैठे कोई, देख उदास मेरा चेहरा
तेरे लिए की दुआओं पर, ना लगे पहरा

मैं सजती-संवरती भी हूँ
पायल, चूड़ी पहनती भी हूँ
जाने ना सच मनजोगन का
कहे ना तू भी रह अब जोगी सा

फूलों संग बातें भी करती हूँ
हवा सी उड़ती फिरती हूँ
जान मेरे रुके क़दमों की सच्चाई
दे ना कोई तुझे रुकने की दुहाई

दिए की बाती में श्रद्धा लौ भरती हूँ'
अभिषेक, तिलक, कर श्लोक पढ़ती हूँ

Awesome work Prritiy. The font is a bit unclear, yet I can see the poem is stunning. Is poem ki asli beauty, spirit aur appeal original Hindi Version mein hain, though you have been kind enough to translate it into English for the benefit of those who don't know Hindi. I would request you re-post the Hindi version with the Hindi font clearer. I'd like to hare it with my Dad, who is a true Hindi Literati. Wanna tell him there's mind-boggling literary potential in the new generation of poets!

Loads of thanks to you dear, this is one of my writes in which i feel i did well, rather it has my heart, soul and pain in it and yes that was written originally in Hindi and a friend asked to do it in English to understand it clearly, so i wrote it.

Beautiful! I like your concept...hiding one's weakness. Pretending that you are not crying but actually you are.

Who woudn't cry if being hurt? if being left alone in the dark? It is our nature to have this defense mechanism, to reveal our strength and conceal our weakness.
