"So many people don't live for
today. They are completely consumed with the future, and yet it is how we live
today that creates our future. It is what you feel today that matters because
it is the only thing that determines your future. Every day is an opportunity
for a new life, because every single day you stand at the tipping point of your
life. And on any one day you can change the future - through the way that you
feel. When you tip the balance to good feelings, the force of love will change
your life so fast that you will scarcely believe it."
The other day, I heard this quote in completion for the first time, and I can honestly say that no other words have impacted me more. If you don't believe me, you would if you personally knew me: I was a changed person the next day. I read this quote every day now, probably about ten times, and I have come to the conclusion that my life is permanently altered because of these words. Just think about it: the majority of the world is always concerned about tomorrow and the duties that they are required to fulfill tomorrow, but what if there was no tomorrow? Now, I won't get all "end of the world" on you, and I know the concept of "what would you do if today was your last day" has been expressed millions of times - yes, even by the band Nickelback. But think long and hard about this. The future is only created by what you achieve today, what you dream of today and how you execute these dreams today. Every single day is a new chance to start all over, or to continue what you've been doing successfully. That is probably the one thing about life that is ironic: every day is a new chance, but every day contributes to one continuous, short story. I know that everyone will admit it: life is short. Even if you get a new chance to start over every day, it doesn't change the fact that your time is ticking and you only have so much time to achieve what you want to before it all ends. That is why it is so vital to take advantage of these new chances and opportunities that life gives you. The way that you can do this is by keeping your emotions in check, because how you feel is going to affect how you use these opportunities and what you achieve in your short time on this earth. Once you start to be positive and feel good, you will see a change in your life, I guarantee it. Trust me, I was skeptical at first too: I'm depressed and have been for a long time now, and I'm not saying that this positive thinking is a complete cure to my illness. I am simply saying that once you begin to get on this track of feeling good about what you do and how you live, many other things will fall into place and make life easier, even if you still do have problems. In conclusion, just live for today. If you got nothing from my little collection of thoughts here, I hope that you gleaned that one theme. Live for today.
