The Ocean View

The Ocean View

A Poem by Bethany Woody
"

Contest writing.

"

Rushing in along the sand

the ocean reaches to touch the land

Gentle rocking little waves

inside his boat the fisherman brave.

Ever casting as to reap

as the sun sinks into the deep

Splashing crimson across the cloud

fisherman's catch leaves him proud.

But looking out along the dunes

and listening to the cry of loons

He realizes he's all alone

His boat sets off with a gentle groan.

With the sky a scarlet dome

the little fisherman heads for home.

The idea for the contest was to take an image and write a poem about it. I no longer have the image, but it was the ocean at sunset with several small fishing style boats floating in the water. One boat was set off a bit away from the others in the picture.

I love poetry about the ocean! I think it's beautiful & you definitely captured all the beauty of the sun and the water in this poem! Great job & good luck in the contest !! :)
