Please Realize

Please Realize

A Poem by Emalie Todd

You wish us to forget what you have done,

but you refuse to forget what we have done.

You wish us to forgive you,

and welcome you back into our hearts.

But you are blind to see the things that you do.

All of the things that you use against us.

High Horsedness-  is the reason I shun.

Too believe that you  stand higher than the rest?

Denial about what you have done...

because you hover in a cloud of rudeness.

Manipulating words- that drag others down,

it’s hurtful you know?

Your face lies- a facade for innocence.

I am sorry, that I no longer stand for this.

I am sorry that I will not be hurt by you.

I want only honesty, instead of dishonesty.

My fragile heart can not handle this.

Instead of turning away from the truth,

please just admit what you have done.

I am sick and tired of your attitude,

and your choices to treat me this way.

Please do not make it feel as if

you are abandoning us....me........!

Why....why must you....?

I am too fragile to handle these feelings...

too fragile to handle these moments...

Get off the high horse you ride,

an slide down to Earth,

where we all rest our feet.

No longer will we allow ourselves to be

treated like slaves-

mentally, physically and emotionally abused.

You wish us to forget what you have done,

but you refuse to forget what you have done.

You wish us to forgive you,

and welcome you back into our hearts.

But you are blind to see the things that you do.

All of the things that you use against us.

If they continue they will end the friendship,

you so desire to keep.

If they continue, they will be turned against you.

If they continue, this will be the end of you.

Please realize, and just change.

I've gone through this with my mother on and off for about 16 years... just realizing it when we got to the 8th year. I can relate to each word and every line was a wave of remembrance. My youngest sister is lucky... my mother finally came to grips with how to treat her child if she wants to be loved in return. Good write.

There is an old saying, a leopard never changes its spots. Its good that you are able to convey your feelings here but there are some things you may need to watch for. Don't ever apologize to someone who has hurt and abused you.

Also you needlessly repeat things. You wish us to forget what you have done. You said this twice. You wish us to forgive you. Twice. But you are blind to see the things that you do. Twice.

Please do not make it feel as if you are abandoning us....me........! This line shows weakness.

Please realize, and just change. No one in that state of mind ever changes. Just some of my thoughts on this poem.

People will be who they will be I have found over the years. Those that smother others on both physical and emotional levels will end up loosing friends and relations. That is the due course of living such a lifestyle of negative choices.
Those that are effected by such people will always come to a conclusion about what to do. Everyone will have their own way of dealing with them. For some it's acceptance of flaws, for others...they walk away.
The reality is, we can't change people. They must find it within themselves to change. Some will, others won't. Life walks on regardless.

Thanks for sharing your ink!
