trick ... or treat?

trick ... or treat?

A Poem by quinfinn
"

a little something for halloween

"
all hallows eve when spirits roam
unfettered by our earthbound rules
once every year we celebrate
our children, sacrificed like fools

we send them out in the night
so unprepared, so innocent
to seek out thrills and quick reward
where we have been... where once we went

forgetful of the history
the meaning, truth of what it means
ignored are evil and the wrath
of countless spirits, halloweens

so, go to church, confess your sins
content in comfort of your faith
surely your lives will be secure
yet, each October, confront your wraith

still, it is but a holiday
regarded yet by all a lark
but ask yourselves when doubt creeps in
why do our children fear the dark?

'tis once a year we re-enact
in costume all are dread to meet
and venture out in joyful fear
as our children holler "trick or treat"

The history is long lost; now Halloween is just for fun. Some really ignorant people try to say it's evil, but it's only a game.
