DULL

DULL

A Poem by RConnors
"

New pain replacing the old

"

Let me hide in the safe, comfortable, familiar pain

The one I’ve been carrying around for so long

It envelopes me like a warm blanket

Seering my skin and stinging my eyes

But somehow soothing me to sleep

You bring a fresh wound

Something foreign, unexplored

Terrifying

So new, yet it cuts so deep

I realize how dull the old pain has become

And that I miss it.

The first paragraph is so real.
So accurate.
Exactly how it feels.

And the last line.

wow this is soooooo good, R.

the new pain to replace that old pain that we seem to embrace...and realizing how much we missed it.

poets do thrive on pain..it just seems to be so true...it is often said and i do believe it.

it's easier for us to deal with than love and happy...don't know why that is...but it is.
