The Cypress

The Cypress

A Poem by Light

I think of You,

as I hear the winds

Play with the woods outside

watching the branches lean

my heart leans,

with each leaf that floats away

warm whispers from You

imagining myself to see the sky

with Your own eyes.

You've become

my endless Joy,

the fountain of tenderness

the reason why I smile in silence

and cry with words,

my inspiration

to turn the pain into beauty,

and feel the essence of true love

between the tears and Your eyes,

to endure

as I vision Your lips

uttering sweet love,

Sealed forever

with a kiss over my heart.

I close my eyes

and feel Your breath

as I hear the winds,

I close my eyes

and see Your face

as I feel the wounds,

I've learned from You

how to know I'm blessed,

blending You with my heartbeats,

and bleed You into my bliss.

What a wonderful thing to behold the awesome Cyprus tree most surely is....I have an ancient blue one standing guard above my old cottage that can be seen for miles....And with these words, you have captured some of its true majesty.........................Neville

With your opening lines, I found myself leaning closer to the screen, as if I might feel the breeze on my skin :)
There is nothing quite like being immersed in the calmness that the scenery provides, seeing it from a different perspective as the world slumbers. Our thoughts wander, looking for the same calm to envelop our thoughts, and perhaps give us some of the answers to lifes puzzles, or simply contemplate being.
You have captured one of those moments perfectly with your words, bringing the scenery alive to the reader.

You're welcome :)
oh those lost loves memories ...we can paint them any way we want to eh!? try to eeck a measure of meaning from our pain and loss .. what better way than to throw it to the wind .. let it dissipate through the leaves ... i especially feel the "sway" of this one Light ... we have 60-80 foot pines and oaks surrounding us and many days the wind can only be seen in the highest reaches as it plays hop scotch first this way then that through the tree tops ... mmmmmmmmmmmmmm makes me breath "let it go" ...and the spiritual connections for me are the true way to health and healing .. as your speaker turns to blend heartbeats and ride the pain to bliss ...so fine ..delicate and on the "Path" ;) strong imaging says i! very inspiring poem!

love that line...the image and how it rolls off the tongue...
and how the whole poem has the speaker leaning in love as nature's children lean towards the sun...through the work of the breeze.

Beautiful, GH, absolutely beautiful. This one reaches in with a warm, welcoming hug : )
As always, I love the gentle ambience and how your wonderful metaphors and images grab the reader's heart. This special poem, perhaps my favorite of all I've read by you, dances and sings with such life and vibrance. Too, I love how the unity of two lovers really shines through in your last stanza.
Lovely visual presentation to match. In all, this is incomparably breathtaking!

- William Liston
(PS: Did you intend to capitalize "Play" in the third line of the first stanza and "Sealed" in the second-to-last line of the second stanza? Also, in the second stanza, did you mean "as I *envision* your lips."

GH,
There are love poems, and there are LOVE POEMS … and, you know which one this is for a poet like me, who feels every bliss-filled nuance of each heavenly metaphor, so vividly portrayed by your living, breathing, spiritually imbued ink.
No one paints romance and creatively imaginative imagery upon the canvas of our hearts and minds in the uniquely original ways you do.
I cannot say enough how deeply this work in sheer enthrallment touches, but know I simply adore this as one of my all-time favorites from your golden pen … thank you for sharing it, and that beautiful, thoughtfully chosen, and displayed picture speaks volumes, too, setting the perfect mood … bringing it all to life.

Warmest, most appreciative hugs to You! ⁓ Richard : )
