Love in Mono

Love in Mono

A Poem by Light

Tell me
why I'm jealous
of papers and pen
the fading drops of rain
joyously enjoying
a moment of warmth
over the lustful leafs
before they fall
drenching my ground
with sad rhythms
of my pulsing heart
being crushed away
by the cruel winds

Of words that make
a half of me
I've written You the years
filled Your palms with
promised eternity
and brought the Sun
down to Your feet
to rise, to shine
to let me glow
in Your luxurious eyes

and I've kept a part
buried within my loneliness
and swallowed the pride
from high the pain
spoke to me
of aiming again
that rising Sun

Tell me
why I'm jealous of
Your memories
of the past
and all those tiny drops
that have caressed
Your face
gently
those emotions that have
lured Your inner
and made You
You
those sensations that have
struck and awaken You
to be
You

Why I'm crying now
why my heart is…
roughly aching now
is it that I still love You
or that I'm reminded of
the woman I will never be…

Reviews

Gosh, GH*
I’ve read you for years, and you’ve composed some truly outstanding poetry, M’Dear Poetess, but from my perspective, this piece is one of your all-time best works, if not the best.
I say this, because of the genuine-feeling depth, thoughts, and emotions that soar, flow, and dance all through and in-between your words that seem to take on a life all their own with each line and verse, emerging from within, rather than on the page, to virtually float before the mind’s-eye.
Take verse one, for instance: Who speaks in such powerfully impacting voice … yet, your words caress the mind, heart, and soul.
I cannot imagine You being jealous of anything, but you sure have a marvelously amazing and beautiful way of getting the ideas of jealousy across.
How enthrallingly, in verse two, you then gift us wonderment the likes we’ve seldom (if ever) received with such phrases as
"filled you palms with
promised eternity
and brought the Sun
down to Your feet
to rise, to shine
to let me glow
in Your luxurious eyes"
In my stunned presence, I could easily spend an hour holding a sermon on the entirety of your incomparably expressed imagery, visions, spirituality, logic, the sense of eternity, poignancy, hurt, loneliness, love, admiration, you name it, it’s here in one way or another, either hinted at or expanding out into us like ripples on the surface of quiet water.
One thing is for certain: For whomever this blessed poem was written, it is obvious you still love them, and I wind it up (finally, eh? LOL!) by saying that if there is, indeed, a woman you’ll never be, that's wonderfully as it should be, because I can imagine no woman more complete or exquisitely unique than You.

Dang! I just looked up and realize what a stack of words I’ve left on your page, but I’m thinking each of them has purpose and meaning, if none other than to bow in sincere gratitude for sharing You with Us … thank you ever-so warmly, Dear GH! ⁓ Richard 🌸

PS: Oh, I love the picture, too … it conveys so much meaning* ; )

Just wow ! I can tell you for sure one should reas this multiple times in order to catch all of its meaning and value, I only read it once but I’ll dare a feedback anyway. I think I’m beginning to see patterns, recognizing your writing style and the first element I’m getting out of it is “your verses always flow perfectly”. Far from being heavy, your verses seem to be endowed with a natural rhythm that make them read softly. The pathos is great, I seem to read a bittersweet introspective cry in this which speaks directly to me. The poet-muse relation you seem to suggest is painfully familiar to most poets, I guess. That final verse with the mix of insecurity and fear it conveys was something I’m lately deeply relating to. Great job as always !!

Hopelessness and pain in the acceptance of the inevitable is sometimes a hard pill to swallow but swallow we must or else bite the dust! Wisely created allowing emotions to run freely with you at the reins. Thank you for sharing this unique piece, dear friend.

Ah me, love gone wrong can truly be a dagger to the heart. Dear Light The teardrops and pain in your eloquent, delicate words are raw and deeply felt. The last verse filled with pathos and self-deprecation. Madam Butterfly envisioned. So very sad. And so very beautiful.

Dear goodness that touches home.. words to mark a woman.. or man, forever. So many people feel the blade when it comes to love, the true kind, not the make-believe prettiness that seems to flaot around. Your words are dripping reality, so finely laid. Beautiful sad.

many thanks dear Galadriel for Your time reading and kind review, I'm happy to see You can relate :)
Sometimes in life there are just no answers to the inquiry of why certain things are the way they are. We must then take responsibility in what must be done - to continue on as things are or to let go and move forward. Your words are heartfelt and relatable to many. Keep writing Light.
