Written to those that have lived through war

Written to those that have lived through war

A Poem by Satan's Daughter

Pretty words
Spoken like poetry
Running a river of savagery
Through the masses
Bringing together a war-torn nation
With bloodstained hands

Armies of reapers
Sent like a wave of death
Across the world
Raised by false promises
And horrible intentions

How black must one heart be
How vacant a soul
That you would kill
For reasons not your own
And burn civilizations to the ground
Because you were told to

And what of those
That pass on these orders?
That deal the deathblow
While never experiencing the melee
Condemning thousands
At the expense of another glass of scotch

History speaks volumes
About humanity
We kill each other
To preserve ourselves
Hiding behind one excuse or another
Blaming those that lie across the battlefield
For evils we order, but cannot stomach
We drowned in rivers of blood
As we tear apart families with claws made of steel

It makes you wonder.
For all the harm we have inflicted,
What is it that makes us worth saving?
