Listen...

Listen...

A Poem by Rachel Renee
"

On a night where dreams are too far away; on a night where you cannot stay. When words mean nothing and promises are broken; when the familiar warm colour drips from your fingers... Just listen...

"

It was the night I decided to take the risk,

It was the night when I finally kissed,

Kissed the pavement, kissed my soul goodbye,

I gave it all up, and yet, I didn’t die.

Listen…

Can you hear it?

The sound of the wind,

As it gently caressed your cheek.

The sound of the wind,

Can you hear it?

Listen…

It was the night I decided to take the risk,

It was the night I let out my wish,

I told you my desires, my deepest thoughts,

And if you told a soul, you never got caught,

Listen…

Can you hear it?

It’s much quieter now,

No longer does the wind decide to howl.

It’s much quieter now,

Can you hear it?

Listen…

It was the night I decided to take the risk,

I shut my eyes and balled my fists,

I lit everything up, watching it all burn down,

The memories are gone, but still with the town.

Listen…

Can you hear them?

The whispers of the past,

Calling to you, beckoning for you to come home.

The whispers of the past,

Can you hear them?

Listen…
