SUPPER IS LAID!

SUPPER IS LAID!

A Poem by Raghib

Supper is laid !
A shout I heard so clear .
The aroma of sweet chicken,
Calling my famished belly .
And so I sat again,
Besides the family head .
My teeth craving to,
Dig into the meal tonight .
And from the kitchen did I hear,
The harbinger of society news .
"Did you know someone lured,
Somebody else to his doom " .
And a debate did instigate,
Over sides that were right and wrong .
I noticed the female raised her voice ,
For her points had lost weight .
Her male counterpart fighting,
His arguments had been neglected .
The discussion continued in fury,
And my plate had been wiped clean .
None of them noticing,
My departure from the scene .
If only Oh Mother you would have asked,
"Tell me dear, How was your day ? "
If only Oh Father you would have told,
Tales to learn from them .
I wouldn't have had winced ,
As I heard my name being called out again .
"Why didn't you eat Son ?
Come Supper has been laid " .

When others insist on fighting, eat. Sounds like a good strategy to me.

Does it happen at breakfast or even at lunch? Joking 😁 BUT Raghib why not celebrate the supper alone! Discomfort is the best teacher. Since I've learnt so many lessons after going through countless discomforts in my life I'd suggest you also to admire it even for once!😊

Intelligent Indian I see! Hmm.........keep it up "always"👧
indeed at the very end I could not help but give a laugh, its a comical and refreshing piece.
I do however see the theme of neglect, and you bring it out beautifully.
well written piece

Its irony that laughs in the end . Long time no see man . I dont hear from you much nowadays !
I don't know the emotion you expect but at the end of reading this a laugh escaped my mouth.
I like to take this in a funny, light-hearted way but I do acknowledge and understand the helplessness of the protagonist.
Your language is fine and nurtured.
Loved it Raghib:)

Yes wordman . Thank you for the visit
Hard hitting reality. I liked the tale you have effectively narrated in a short poem. The message is very nicely conveyed. The emotions have been poured out so effectively that it makes my heart ache in pity.
