Memories

Memories

A Poem by MsBrownH

I walk in to a room full of laughter;
it surrounds me as if it rained and left a chill after.
Oldies humming in the background to add more life to the ones around
the table playing cards;
As the children play and run around in the yard.
Pops on the grill spreading his special homemade barbeque sauce bound to knock the socks off any gourmet chef.
That's if he could get a piece, there's never any left.
The women in the kitchen rinsing, baking, and whipping up delights;
for the aroma picks up your nostrils and tickle your nose hair.
You can't go to bed hungry that country food sticks to you all night.
In and out, here and there
family everywhere.
All smiles leaving their stress behind, to enjoy the beauty of life with ones still around
The memories of the ones passed still inside.
So year after year we gather to embrace one another
Play games and share past stories 'till the sun goes away.
We hug and say our goodbyes till the next family gathering day............
