WHY

WHY

A Poem by Candle in the wind

"Why" is a potent word

Just leave it suspended

It can evoke varied responses

anxiety

indignation

exasperation

understanding

answers

explanation

justification

further queries

discomfort

trigger a  spirit of inquiry

or protest

voice moods and concerns

Whether "Why"commences a question

or just an exclamation

or just stands alone

As a single word

Or is repeated

"Why Why why"

The best thing is

When someone knows its flavour

And can satiate that "why"

or atleast understand

Why

Why cant it be so always!

I really liked this and thought it was very creative. You have pushed the lines of normality and knocked the dust off the formal style with this. I love to see a writer work within their own ideas of what is abd should be and not fall victim to trying to force the flow of thoughts into something that has no life of its own. You have written something different and wonderful here.

Great Job!!!!!

In many ways this is what ole Tim Leary would consider the generation gap, and you managed the root in a few strokes. Nice.

It's almost as if the question mark was designed for just that...to leave "why" suspended. ?
It's like a little hook that allows the single-word question "why" to dangle from the subject.

I adore the way you view things, and your writes always inspire much thought.

I agree with my friend, Robert. This is very creative..very unique. How much better our life would be with the why...or would it ? Why helped the US cross the unknown west and start new cities. But, mostly "Why " causes frustration and doubt. Great piece, Rain..

This is definately food for thought. It is a powerful write. The structure adds to the work. You take us beyond the norm with this in many ways. Well done.

A very creative and enjoyable write, I enjoyed it.

As a mother, I hear that three letter word quite often. "Why is the sky blue?" and "Why does butterflies flutter?" and then there is my Sam, "How many tons of CO2 gas is discharged into the atmosphere every year in addition to pollutants such as CO, NOx, H2 S, hydrocarbons, ash and other residues?" LOL

Fascinating and thought provoking, excellent writing!
