The tender embrace of finality

Death is but a matter of perspective

Deals with death are never kind,

Death takes far more than it ever gives, 

Death pillages, plunders, kills without rest,

For that is Death.

Death is cruel,

It takes away loved ones,

Rips away the hope from lost souls,

Death is cruel.

But for a select few,

Death is kind. 

When death is all that is left,

When life becomes a living hell,

When everyday is a relentless torture...

Death embraces you like his own child,

Tends to you like an old friend,

Death is kind. 

Perspective is all it takes,

for those things darkest to us all,

to change.

Author's Note

Not sure about this poem, the last part was a bit of an impulsive add on, if possible can anyone tell me if it suits or not? I like forward to feedback.

The end actually makes the poem. It takes it onto a new level of questioning just how much of a kindness it can be. What is crueller, the death of a loved one or watching them suffer an all consuming illness. Sometimes, perspective is all it takes. Wonderfully written and very thought provoking words.

Thanks. A lot of my current poems are me musing about a topic and it turning into a poem. I tend to write a lot of poems about death, especially since a lot of what I read and watch has character death galore.

You say death, 9 times. I understand you, death is powerful, its inevitable- I would remind you, it's inevitable. What about it are you trying to teach me? Think about it, understanding death, will give us quite a perspective on life. Cheers.

Thanks for the review, but I'm not sure what you're trying to tell me. Do you mean that I repeat death too many times and my meaning is a bit vague? I meant to say that a change in perspective is all it takes to change a situation - in this case the perspective one takes on death.
