One Last Hope

One Last Hope

A Poem by Vani Jalagar

The spring season has arrived,

Spreading the fragrance of flowers

Vivid birds sitting on a tree twig,

Soulfully, singing a song with sorrow.

Spring called the nightingale and said,

“My darling, sing a song

on the journey ahead!!!”

Nightingale expressed a sigh,

“Journey has no tranquility,

There’s an end approaching versatility,

Man is relentlessly threatening the nature,

His heart flooded with greed and selfishness,

Disregarding humanity and there’s no mercy.

Flora and fauna are meeting an end,

Trees are severed and burnt to ashes,

There’s no hope but only fear,

Anytime planet earth can go fatal”

The spring then gave the sign of hope,

“Don’t fear, the land haven’t turned barren,

Eternally flowing rivers are still exist there,

Still the flower blossoms scattering aroma,

Bees are still sucking the nectar

There’s still some greenery left,

Seasons of scenery are not ceased yet.

There are creatures still in existence,

Nevertheless, our planet can be saved,

There’s one last hope on man,

To impede the brutality if he can.”

I wonderful, visually expressed poem about man's so detrimental effect on the beauty and balance of mother-nature as she forlornly implores him to step back from his destructive ways, while there is still time to repair the damage ! Will he listen ? ( I'm fearful )!

Beautifully crafted !

A wonderful poem picturing the negligence and inhumanity of humans and ending with a hope that all is still not lost.

May we regain the lost.

So true! Nature is deminishing due to man's selfishness and uncaring desire for "growth" and "development". I dread to think of years to come when little patches of nature will be kept in zoos and parents will say to their children "look kids, this is rainforest and these are what trees look like". I hope that mankind will wise up and listen and start being more careful and environmentally friendly, but it will take the whole world... lets just hope someone starts listening aye. In the mean time, we can do our best. Beautiful piece my friend.

Some part of the world. Cancer is running rapid. Poison air and water. The poem create a real vision. I like the strong ending to the outstanding poetry.

Thank you so much Coyote.......I'm glad that you liked it :)
Yes, I share you sentiments about our abuse of nature. Your poem has a musical quality, have you ever thought of setting it to music? I like to think that the natural world is singing to us all the time. If enough of us write poems for the defence of Nature maybe we will have some impact. But, on a salutary note, nature can happily continue to exist without mankind!
