The Last Party

The Last Party

A Poem by Rashmi

The blackness might bleed in

So we got our floodlights dancin’

The silence might eat in

So we got our woofers whammin’

‘Cause if the earth dies today

So will rock ‘n’ roll

If it’s everyone’s last day

Then it is our last day of youth

We make love under the living room lamp

‘Cause we might never get wasted on golden sand

The goth girl is licking the damp

‘Cause rain might not again meet this land

If the bass keeps thumping across the skies

How can our heartbeats ever fade?

If the beer gets warm in candlelight

Who’ll reimburse the blue tomorrow pre-paid?

Who’ll reimburse the blue tomorrow pre-paid?"
