You may think you know me

A poem about my journey so far in this life.

I may not look it,

But I have been broken.

You may not see it,

But my life has been shattered.

You may not hear it,

But I've cried myself to sleep.

You may not see it,

But I have been hurt.

You may not feel it,

But I am hurting.

 

You may see me,

But you don't know me.

You may have seen my smile,

But is it real?

You may have seen my face,

But that's not who I am.

You may have heard my laugh,

But that may be false.

You may have felt my compassion,

But you don't know the pain I went through to get it.

 

You may think you know me,

But you don't.
