Some Heroes

Written for Veteran's Day

Some heroes stand on the battlefield,

     shouldering a gun.

They look into the eyes of death,

     and never think to run.

Some heroes work behind the scenes,

     it's a quiet trail they blaze,

Putting honor and country first,

     and never seeking praise.

Some heroes choose to protect,

     accepting sacrifice.

Shouldering duty for strangers,

    and paying the ultimate price.

Reserve, retired, or active,

     you're heroes, one and all.

We thank you for your service,

     and answering your Country's call.

Those which have served in the millitary are an amazing and complex group of people. They had to work very hard to even begin to fight for the safety and wholeness of their own countries.
Whatever laws, rules, protections and government is had in any amount or lack of is due to the protection of a given land.
We here in the West must not take anything for granted or take ANY servicemen or servicewomen for granted.
They have sacrificed and have been changed as well by there experience.
