The Snitch

The Snitch

A Poem by ReedWrite
"

Fun Times

"

The man is a snitch

            With a hell-bent itch,

And he keeps watch day-by-day.

Every look and peep

            Is ammo to keep,

As he quietly stalks his prey.

The man is a snitch

            With a refined kitsch,

That serves him very well.

He will watch and wait

            With the perfect bait,

Ever poised to pounce and quell.

                        Oh he answers the call

                                    Roaming every hall,

                        His cackle the perfect pitch.

                        No mercy, no reprieve,

                                    And far from naïve,

                        The man…is…a snitch!

Author's Note

ReedWrite
A workmate of mine jokingly shared with an administrator, something another teacher (who frequents our work area) said. It was not done maliciously at all...and the whole incident turned into a sort of joke as this teacher started calling my workmate a "snitch". So, as the back and forth tit and tat escalated, it got to the point that several of us went together to order a Golden Snitch key chain, and I was asked to write a poem...all of which was left on my workmate's desk. Here's the poem...certainly not perfect, but not too bad for a 10-minute effort...lol.

ps. a cackling man lends to a whole array of imaging and character defining ... great phrase!

TY BBP...appreciate the read and review.
This was a fun read. I'm a retired teacher and thankfully I, after 45 years, can only recall one snitch. Thanks for your work.

So glad you enjoyed the poem.
I can see him looking around 'Meerkat-like' now every time he imparts some 'info' to a colleague to make sure the coast is clear...perhaps even fingering his key chain while he does. lol
Great craic RW.

LOL...ty Tony!
Glad you enjoyed it.
This is hilarious & I hope your co-worker has a good sense of humor! *wink! wink!* Your structure is well-done & the rhyme scheme gives it a sassy tone, almost like a limerick. My favorite imagery is roaming the halls cackling -- that's memorable! *smile*

The snitch. One crawling from under a stone near you. Always there to say hello, how are you doing.
Brutus, beware.

Thank you for reading and commenting, Paul.
i have been involved in similar situations at school...no bad intent, but something snowballs and people get hurt by it...
a light, hearted look at what can be the consequences.

Gee
Like this. Snitch, tell tale, grass, usually associated in a bad way with the person concerned.
The usual high fare ma'am, what else to be expected.
