The King's Patience

The King's Patience

A Poem by Radad Ibn Nasir
"

Where Valor searches for Grace..

"

I would give up the world first,

In a flurry of a burst,

Drain your madness and your hurts,

Just to quench your thirst.

I would conquer planets then,

And make promises to men,

Daughters in likeness for them,

My flower, my stem.

In place of the polar star,

Where wishes are made from far,

Brought to you to look at hard,

Judge sweet; love unmarred.

Queen of a dream that came true,

Be not masked with what you do,

Straight as an arrow that flew,

From my heart to you.

Beside me an empty throne,

Left in a kingdom alone,

My glory is my bitter own,

Until you come home.

Beautiful. This poem moves me, and should be able to move anyone who has ever experienced a long-distance relationship. Keep up the fantastic writing.

Very interesting ending, took me by surprise. Beautiful, though! I especially love the lines "My glory is my bitter own" and "I would give up the world first". The narrator gives off the feeling of a quiet but strong desperation. Wonderful poem.

What beautiful ode of a man who waits for his queen. The unmatched love she has waiting for her is worth more than the splendor of kingdoms themselves. Sweet and very beautifully written and structured.

What a beautiful ode to a loved one. So pretty.

The end hit a chord, it speaks of loneliness and bitter silence. Sad, but impressively snuck in there.

Wow! That is how you create an image with words!! Great flow as well. Just glides through smoothly while catching the readers attention with such grace in the wording.
