RIPPED JEANS AND GRASS STAINS

RIPPED JEANS AND GRASS STAINS

A Poem by Rene Velez

I wanted to tune out
from being tuned in,
it seems we take more
loses than we do, wins,

tired of the same thing
again and again, same
old rhetoric that's meant
to offend,

take me back to the
playground and
childhood games, where
ethnic smiles shared
the same,

where bent knees
showed no shame,
only ripped jeans
and grass stains,

where there was no
measure of a man,
only children laughing
and holding hands.

Really dig this one Rene, you painted the carefree child life perfectly. Still got ripped jeans, just now they cost a lot of money! lol Nice painted picture you did here!

The remnants of our childhood is still laying beneath the surface. Thoses unkind things taught along life road has stained who we could still be and should be. But fear and division is in braced. Awaken Compassion, Love and Laughter.

Thanks for the reviews, much appreciated. When I have the time, I'll check your poetry out.
Same old rhetoric. Rhetoric is easy, convenient, distracting. Back then, a measure of a man wasn't needed, people intuitively, morally KNEW what to do and be. They listened inside, not outside. Rene, man, you hit the heart beating center with this on. Great write.
