A poor little boy

A poor little boy

A Poem by RESWAR

He is a poor little boy
Living in a shanty
Known no joy
Done no wrong
Often left hungry

He is a poor little boy
Men scream
Women wail
He never says a word
Huddled, somewhere

Gargantuan vehicles pass him by
With no dream or awe
He likes to zip past
One such time shall zip no more
A poor little boy
He will die

“One lesser mouth to feed from now”
“They said his mother was a s**t of sorts”
“Life is cheap by the side of the road.”
“A poor little boy!”
“We must drive on”

Your first, second, and fourth stanzas are really good. I'm especially a fan of the use of spoken word at the end. Having said that, your third one seems out of place. It's long and wordy where the others are short and punchy, and I'm not entirely sure it makes sense either: "he likes to zip past" "one such time shall zip no more"?

Further, saying directly "he will die" is redundant next to the rest of it. You haven't been direct before, no need to now; you've implied it already. Consider reworking that third stanza.
