Christ's Appendix

Christ's Appendix

A Poem by Vria P Crow
"

Born in a desert winter land...

"
Christ's Appendix

Born in a desert
winter land,
we celebrate with
shiny, gaudy wrapping
paper tied
with rolling red ribbons
from a ruptured appendix;

a time bomb
set by society,
detonated
by foolish citizens.

After math.

Parents cast out
their young
while the children
burrow into their
rusty vehicles
under the bridge;

living ghosts
wondering
in the carcass
of a fallen city.

Before math.

Wooden wreathes
gathered from
ever green,
adorned with
pine cones;

hung on
door steps
to guard
our gullible
babies.

Memories fade
as the ink
of a cuttlefish
fades from tattered
photographs;

sepia frames
our gilded age,
touched by a
blind epidemic.

Christmas lost in the artificiality of modern day... Broken homes and broken hearts all can be found in front of our eyes... The church I go to is a school church and there are plenty of orphans who celebrate Christmas each and every year, many of them have actual parents but sadly they do not have any meaning to their parents... A very thought provoking write Ria... I guess spirituality is still alive in our hearts but the society is constantly trying to diminish it...

Some celebrate, others toss away their kids. Sad but true. Many little ones at the church I go to are being raised by foster homes, grandparent or single parent. Too many forget the reason for celebrating Christ Mass. His birth. Valentine

Our desire for possessions is hardly ever suppressed in this materialistic society. Bad time of year for many, you've given it a whole new twist. Your poetic voice is intriguing to say the least. Kudos.

Thank you for reading and your compliments!
Christmas. The dreaded time of year for adults -- wrapped in guilt and debt -- difficult to figure why we keep succumbing to the myth. For a person who says their grammar isn't good, you hide it well. And I am looking, I can't help myself.:)

the epidemic of materialism and how something so pure and beautiful and simple as Christmas turned into something so marketed and full of commercialism that we have blinded ourselves and lost the true meaning of love, life and the real spirit of the holidays...
every damn thing these days is a hallmark card.

your poetry is raw and beautiful, because you poetically make statements that need to be written and heard.

Very strong use of description Ria.

The above lines. I could write a epic poem from. Photos and memories can rebirth tears or laughter. The poem made the reader ponder many things. Thank you Ria for sharing the amazing poetry.
