A Poem by Richard🖌
"

English [Shakespearean] Sonnet

"

    'Twas then, from in a glowing starlit mist,

    your voice spoke out in ways I'd never heard;

    in listening, I knew my heart was kissed

    soft by the essence from each golden word.

    Spellbound in place, like roots secure a tree,

    wild winds of destiny released and churned,

    my world gave way like partings of the sea,

    and on yon distant shore a pure flame burned.

    Halfway, met dancing ... two souls, high above;

    below, hugged starfish, soft anemones;

    o'erflowed my cup with sparkling wines of love,

    that filled the space between with symphonies.

        As rhythms of Bolero flowed sublime ...

        we found what we 'd been born for ~ all the time.

Richard,
"All the time (Sweet romance)
Yes, this is a sweet, soft winsome poem. I found the words: "I knew my heart was kissed soft by the essence of each golden word." Essence is a living soul character trait and in reading that line the whole poem seems to then spin upon it and take on such life.
Then comes to fruition: "Two souls high above: below, hugged starfish, soft anemones.
As rhythms of bolero flowed sublime...we found what we'd been born for -all the time."
It does me worlds of good to just allow myself engulfed in the feeling of this one! Love it for sure.

For some, words are tools to re.arrange one's destiny .. in this your tools of trade create a sweet heart's destiny. Tis beautiful writing, phrases laid so elegantly, style and content truly beautiful. True to its form, what's more.

Hello Rascal,
You are such a great writer I wanted to go back to your first poem and start here to review, and am I ever glad I did, because there is no one else I have found who writes sonnets but you and me and I am very surprised, but so happy too.
You have written this sonnet in perfect form, but it is not the form alone that makes it so amazing and thrilling to read, you are one of the most romantic and talented pens men I have ever read and your words just took me away to another place all together.
Your first verse and the heroic couplet embraced me, sigh!
The perfect picture too, everything is so beautiful and dreamy.

You are a very handsome poet too,

Hm,
You are a flirt Rascal, and I love it! xx
I spent quite a bit of my earlier years writing sonnets; and for some reason, it's always like coming home. Your words are as melodious as a summer breeze that kisses the heart with tender remembrance.

I love the hues written within this poem ... glowing, golden, burned, sparkling ... beautiful!

This is a beautiful sonnet. Your quatrains flow with vivid imagery; with dancing feet, arising for the task; and show us twirling love above the sea; such lovely metaphors in which to bask. Thanks for sharing.

Truly touched, your wordplay was engaging, the depth of this was so vivid, so surreal.
