A Peaceful Hush (her morning)

A Peaceful Hush (her morning)

A Poem by Richard🖌

A Peaceful Hush

Through sheer lace curtains
 sunlight greets her eyes,
 to early dove song’s
 cooing calls to rise.

A stretch, or two,
the shutters then thrown wide ...
 life’s splend'rous wonders
 on display outside.

Lies morning dew’s brocade
 spread 'cross the lawn ...
 caught in each drop
 glints sunbeams'
 spark'ling dawn.

Rise steamy mists,
 in ghostly arabesques ...
 stand floral colours,
 tall and statuesque.

Wends warmly through …
 a gentle breeze’s brush,
 while all around takes on
  … a peaceful hush.

You know, it surprises me just how big an impact font can make on a reader. Normally, the words themselves would have to set the tone, etc etc. With every poem of yours I've read, the font (and accompaniment art) sets the stage and casts a gentle, romantic light on things. Then you, instead of using the font as a crutch, seem to use the already-set ambiance as a stepping-off point. You use your words to carry the reader through the poem like a leaf caught in a gentle summer's breeze.

Having said all that, the font doesn't take away from the words themselves, which can stand completely on their own.

One thing I like about your poems is that they aren't the typical perfectly-structured-flawlessly-rhymed love poems. Rather, they speak in romantic terms and simply set the tone for a romantic setting. There is enough mystique to make the minds of the readers work and think of their own happy places.

This is so beautiful. You paint a beautiful picture of the serenity of the early morning. I love that time of day when everything is fresh and new again. Each sunrise is magnificently different, and I love listening to the birds sing as they awaken to the morning light, and seeing dew like sparkling diamonds as the sun rises before it dries it up. We have a front porch where I love to sit and take it all in. You captured this time of day superbly. I love the way you write. :) Nicely done.

I think the image I conjured up is one of an ideal morning, and I think it's one that we all crave. No alarm clocks mentioned, no work to worry about, no grumpy voices or unpleasant weather; just peace and happiness. Your words make my heart fill with sunlight. Thank you.

This is an amazing poem. The gorgeous imagery created a calm, somewhat romantic mood that entranced me with an ethereal blissfulness. You should be proud of this poem. I am looking forward to reading more of your works. Best regards.

The imagery in this makes me feel all warm inside. The descriptive words perfect to me. I'm no expert in poetry and I can't say I dislike much about this poem. Something about it just sings to me. Pen on ^^

Beautifully written. I love the imagery. The sweetness and softness of the poem is complimented by the picture.
It is commendable how a morning routine has been turned into a beautiful poem by the magic of your words.

Very artful description of one lady's graceful morning routine. Since doves are plentiful around here, I very much relate to some aspects of this morning song. As always, your poetic form is very tightly crafted & no suggestions come to mind.
