    A world of joy-filled magic
~·--------·~·--------·~·--------·~·--------·~

          There is
            a certain sort of
            comfort in loneliness ...
            a resignation,
            apathy watching
            others together.

            Aching eyes avert ...
            pain tries
            to color moments,
            but is blocked
            by lack of inner-light
            to bless
            even its grey hues.

            An ilk --
            of numbness,
            pervading recollection
            appears.

            As though…
            texture
            has been stripped
            from all life's surface.

            Then,
            is heard ...
            a familiar sort of laugh,
            caught ~ a glimpse
            of breeze-teased
            flaxen hair,
            the Southern Star
            in a moon-lit
            cloudless night,
the gentle sway of hips ...

            and,
            it shamelessly flows back:
            When warmth mattered,
            your sleeping softness
            wrapped my heart
            in a sense
            of pure,
            innocent awe ...

            those moments,
            with you
            I felt fresh...
            when I watched quietly,
            as each rise and fall
            of your breasts
            was a world
            of joy-filled magic ~

Hm, it's pretty, but is there something missing; is it too simple?
Well, it's early morning and I just had the first hot sip of lapsang … I'll check it again later.

Constructive comments and critique are always welcome … any help is appreciated! : )

Must admit, and truth must be said... when You write in Free Verses there is something rare inside You that comes alive to the surface, so vibrant, sheer glamour, beauty that is written, read and felt only in heavenly essence, so glad this appeared on the right list of my page reminding me with such a sublime, outstanding, glorious masterpiece... sigh! something I wish I've composed!

Nothing missing for me. To move from the lonely side of life to the recollection of love and beauty- it seems this is how most of us experience the world . . . In starkness, sadness, grey numb solitude. . . And in the awe of love whether remembered or current. I loved the transition from one movement to the other, so gracefully made- one moment texture stripped away, and the next, a laugh that brings it all back, the life and the love. the contrasts are very effective and capture what feels like a universal experience for those who travel through life plunging to the depths and rising up again, resilence winning out as memory and gratitude mix to rejuvinate our weary souls. fluid and so real, i appreciate taking this journey with you.

Not too simple at all, Richard. When someone is alone, without a partner in life, it seems as though the rest of the world is walking two by two. It seems you are the only one without someone to love. You do not want to see happy people laughing and kissing. When you remember the good times, it is a bittersweet twinge and the memory becomes even sweeter with time. The emotions are expressed so well here and I liked the graphic you chose to accompany your words. Lydi**
